The Brooks County Court Calendar
Brooks County posts no one live calendar covering all of its trial courts. For the 79th Judicial District Court, start at the 79th Judicial District Court page. It is the official home for annual calendars, standing orders, and the civil setting form. The linked 2026 district calendar gives that court's dates. Treat it as a schedule, not a case search. It will not show every party, pleading, or outcome.
The Constitutional County Court, the Justice Courts, and Falfurrias Municipal Court keep separate schedules. Their dates arrive by citation, notice, signed order, or a call to the court itself. Settings can shift after a calendar goes up. That is why the court identity and current case record matter. They count as much as any date printed on a Brooks County court calendar.
Brooks District Calendar Resources
The district page offers more than dates. It links calendars spanning several years. It also posts 2024 standing orders and a Civil Case Setting Request Form. A standing order is a general direction from the court about how requests get made. Read the one that applies before you send anything. The form shows a local process exists for putting a civil matter on the calendar.
Follow the filing rules closely. The Brooks County District Clerk does not accept fax filings. Ask instead about the right route for a setting request. It might go through eFileTexas, be delivered to the clerk, or reach court staff directly. An emailed question is not the same as a filed request.
Calendar boundary: The annual calendar is a planning source. A signed order, current notice, and current docket control a specific case.
How to Find Your Court Date
Search with the strongest locator you have. Ideally that is a case or citation number. A name alone can pull up similar matters. Give staff a filing year and court type so they can narrow the request fast. Every documented Brooks County access channel belongs in this check.
- Identify the court on the notice, citation, pleading, or prior docket entry.
- For district matters, review the official calendar and Brooks eServices where the case is indexed.
- Call or email the responsible clerk when the record is absent, restricted, or unclear.
- For a JP or municipal citation, use its appearance date and contact that court.
- Confirm the date, time, place, and purpose with the clerk, coordinator, counsel, or courthouse posting before appearing.
Start in person at the County or District Clerk counter, 100 E Miller Street, Falfurrias. Both offices list mail addresses but no set mailed calendar-request process. So call 361-325-5604 ext. 4 before mailing anything. Brooks County publishes no courthouse-terminal policy. It also posts no confirmed daily printed-calendar routine. For civil and felony searches, the District Clerk also takes questions at districtclerk@co.brooks.tx.us.
Brooks County Calendars by Court
Match each date source to the right jurisdiction. The district court hears felony, family, child-protection, land-title, and larger civil matters. The Constitutional County Court covers county civil, misdemeanor, and probate work. JP courts handle Class C cases. They also take limited civil matters. Falfurrias Municipal Court takes city traffic, parking, ordinance, code, school-attendance, and other Class C cases.
| Court | Date source | Best confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| 79th District Court | Annual calendar, notice, docket | District Clerk or coordinator |
| Constitutional County Court | Notice or case record | County Clerk |
| JP Precinct 1 or 2 | Citation, form, notice | Assigned JP clerk |
| Falfurrias Municipal Court | Citation appearance date | Municipal Court |
Two city documents get mistaken for court dockets. The city event calendar is not a municipal court docket. OCA activity reports count filings but never list hearings. Neither one is a Brooks County court calendar.
Reading a Court Setting
A setting puts a matter on a court schedule for a stated purpose. It is not a judgment. Read the entire entry. Compare it against the newest notice or order. Field labels on the district PDF and eServices can vary. Verify what each label means rather than assuming.
| Date | The scheduled day; confirm that it has not been reset. |
|---|---|
| Time | A docket-call time or individual hearing time. |
| Courtroom | The assigned room or appearance place, if stated. |
| Judge | The court or officer assigned to the setting. |
| Setting Type | The purpose, such as status, motion, arraignment, pretrial, or trial. |
One quirk trips up visitors. The Brooks district page lists a Falfurrias office but publishes an Alice administrative address. The courthouse itself sits in Falfurrias. Call before you travel, so a mailing address is not mistaken for the hearing site.
Brooks County Setting Terms
Short labels can hide the gap between a date and an outcome. These terms help when you read a Brooks County calendar or ask about the next event.
- Setting
- A reserved hearing, trial, or docket slot. It does not show how the matter ended.
- Docket call
- A scheduled review or call of several matters on a list.
- Continuance
- A court-approved move to a later date.
- Reset
- A changed date; the prior entry may stay in the history.
- Standing order
- A general court procedure, not a ruling unique to one case.
A motion to continue is only a request until the court grants it. Keep following the current date unless the court, clerk, or counsel confirms a new one.
Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations
A Brooks County setting can move for many reasons: an order, a conflict, incomplete service, a party request, or another case event. The old date may linger in the docket history. A missing online entry proves nothing. A public system can lag. It can also leave out restricted detail.
Check the newest order or notice first. Then call the correct office with the case number, court, original date, and party role. District questions go to the coordinator or District Clerk. County matters belong to the County Clerk. JP and municipal dates stay with the court named on the citation. Write down which office you contacted and what you told them.
Note: Never assume a requested continuance was granted until the court confirms the new Brooks County setting.
Brooks County Citation Dates
Traffic and Class C cases work differently. In Brooks County, they do not follow the district court calendar. The justice court forms key off the citation number. They also depend on the precinct where the case sits. JP Precinct 1 asks for ten business days from the citation date before you call. Over in the city, Falfurrias Municipal Court puts the appearance date right on the citation itself. Keep one thing straight, though. Your signature on that ticket is not a plea. The docket entry will not read as one.
Check the precinct before you touch any payment link. Precincts 3 and 4 merged into Precinct 1 effective January 1, 2023. An old JP3 page still floats around online. Paying through it can send money to the wrong court. For a city citation, call the court directly. Falfurrias Municipal Court at 205 E Allen Street will confirm your court date by phone at 361-325-5039.
What To Do If You Miss a Setting
Move quickly rather than hoping the missed setting resolves itself. Call the court or clerk named on your paperwork. Hand over the case or citation number, and ask what the status is and what lawful step comes next. If a lawyer represents you, make that call too. Skip the shortcuts: showing up at an uncertain location, or paying an old vendor link just to test whether the docket is still open, can create new problems instead of fixing the old one.
Missed a setting? A missed criminal, JP, or municipal appearance may lead to added court action, including a failure-to-appear case or warrant.
Call the responsible Brooks County court at once and ask whether a new date, appearance, or filed request is required.
Advice about warrants, bond, pleas, or rights should come from a licensed attorney.
The Brooks County case search can point you to the right court and the docket entry you missed. Confirming what happens next, though, is a job for the court itself.
Brooks Calendar Gaps and Checks
Brooks County posts no public county-court, JP, or municipal calendar endpoint. The district PDF does not render reliably. So build your fallback deliberately. A posted calendar speaks only for the court it names, while a case-specific check belongs with the clerk by phone or in person.
Federal cases never appear on the Brooks district calendar. Cases filed out of Brooks County land in the Southern District of Texas, Corpus Christi Division. They live on PACER or with the federal clerk. State appeals go to the Fourth Court of Appeals through its own appellate systems. Those are separate records on separate schedules, and mixing them up wastes a trip.
Note: Publication proves a schedule exists, not that each detail or last-minute Brooks County change is visible online.
